Centurion Cs 2000 Power Converter Manualgolkes

Centurion Cs 2000 Power Converter Manualgolkes

If you own an RV, you probably know how important it is to have a reliable power converter that can supply electricity to your appliances and devices. A power converter is a device that converts AC power from a shore or generator source to DC power that can be used by your RV's battery and circuits. One of the popular models of power converters is the Centurion Cs 2000, which is a 20-amp converter that has a built-in battery charger and a cooling fan. However, like any other device, the Centurion Cs 2000 may encounter some problems or need some maintenance over time. In this article, we will provide you with some information on how to install, operate and maintain your Centurion Cs 2000 power converter.

How to Install Your Centurion Cs 2000 Power Converter

Before installing your Centurion Cs 2000 power converter, you need to make sure that you have the following tools and materials:

  • A screwdriver

  • A wire stripper

  • A wire cutter

  • Electrical tape

  • Wire nuts or crimp connectors

  • A multimeter

Follow these steps to install your Centurion Cs 2000 power converter:

  • Locate a suitable place to mount your power converter, preferably near the battery and away from heat sources and moisture. Make sure that there is enough ventilation for the cooling fan.

  • Use the screwdriver to remove the four screws that secure the cover of the power converter and set it aside.

  • Use the wire stripper to strip about half an inch of insulation from the ends of the wires that connect to the AC input, DC output and battery terminals of the power converter.

  • Connect the black wire from the AC input to the black wire from the shore or generator source using a wire nut or a crimp connector. Repeat this for the white wire from the AC input and the white wire from the shore or generator source.

  • Connect the green wire from the AC input to a metal ground point on your RV using a wire nut or a crimp connector.

  • Connect the red wire from the DC output to the positive terminal of your RV's battery using a wire nut or a crimp connector. Repeat this for the white wire from the DC output and the negative terminal of your RV's battery.

  • Use the multimeter to check for proper polarity and voltage at the AC input and DC output terminals of the power converter. The AC input should read between 108 and 132 volts AC, while the DC output should read between 13.2 and 14.4 volts DC.

  • Use the electrical tape to wrap around any exposed wires or connections for safety.

  • Replace the cover of the power converter and secure it with the four screws.

How to Operate Your Centurion Cs 2000 Power Converter

To operate your Centurion Cs 2000 power converter, you need to follow these steps:

  • Plug in your shore or generator cord to an appropriate outlet and turn on the breaker or switch that controls it.

  • The power converter will automatically start charging your RV's battery and supplying DC power to your RV's circuits. You will hear a humming noise from the cooling fan and see a red LED light on the front panel of the power converter.

  • To monitor the status of your battery and power converter, you can use a voltmeter or an ammeter connected to your battery terminals. The voltmeter will show you how much voltage your battery has, while the ammeter will show you how much current your power converter is delivering to your battery.

The power converter has four modes of operation: bulk, absorption, float and equalization. The mode will depend on the state of charge of your battery and will be indicated by different blinking patterns of the red LED light on the front panel of the power converter. Here are what each mode means:

  • - Bulk mode: This is when your battery is deeply discharged and needs a high current charge. The red LED light will blink rapidly and continuously. The power converter will deliver the maximum current of 20 amps to your battery until it reaches about 80% of its capacity. - Absorption mode: This is when your battery is nearly full and needs a constant voltage charge. The red LED light will blink slowly and continuously. The power converter will maintain a constant voltage of 14.4 volts to your battery until it reaches about 95% of its capacity. - Float mode: This is when your battery is fully charged and needs a trickle charge to keep it topped off. The red LED light will blink once every four seconds. The power converter will reduce the voltage to 13.2 volts and deliver a small current of about 0.5 amps to your battery. - Equalization mode: This is when your battery is sulfated and needs a high voltage charge to desulfate it. The red LED light will blink twice every four seconds. The power converter will increase the voltage to 15.5 volts and deliver a low current of about 2 amps to your battery for about four hours. This mode is activated manually by pressing the equalization button on the front panel of the power converter.

How to Maintain Your Centurion Cs 2000 Power Converter

To maintain your Centurion Cs 2000 power converter, you need to do the following:

  • Check the connections and wires of the power converter regularly for any signs of corrosion, damage or looseness. Clean or replace them as needed.

  • Check the cooling fan of the power converter regularly for any signs of dust, dirt or debris. Clean or replace it as needed.

  • Check the fuse of the power converter regularly for any signs of blowout or burnout. Replace it as needed with a 30-amp fuse.

  • Check the battery of your RV regularly for any signs of corrosion, damage or leakage. Clean or replace it as needed.

  • Perform an equalization charge on your battery at least once every six months or whenever you notice a decrease in its performance. To do this, press the equalization button on the front panel of the power converter and let it run for about four hours.
